Obituary of Jaime Sue Verrips

    Jaime Sue Verrips was born in Iowa City, Iowa on April 9, 1976, to Dan and Becky Verrips. She passed away surrounded by love on October 24, 2023, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. For the first seven years of Jaime’s life, she grew up in Hartley, Iowa before her family relocated to Adkins, Texas, where she spent the remainder of her childhood and adult life. As a child, Jaime enjoyed horseback riding with her family and spending summers with her sister and friends in Iowa. In August of 2023, Jaime moved to Sanborn, Iowa to be closer to her parents and family.

    In March 2011, Jaime became a loving mother to Ashlyn Rae Verrips. Jaime was a doting mother all through Ashlyn’s life; there wasn’t a day she didn’t brag about her beautiful daughter. Jaime spent many hours cheering Ashlyn on during softball – she may have loved softball more than Ashlyn did! She was the best “Softball Mom”. Jaime loved to shop – she was the best gift giver on this side of the Mississippi. When Jaime wasn’t shopping or cheering Ashlyn on, she spent many hours watching her parents at the track drag racing. If you knew Jaime, you knew her love for cars – she loved muscle cars, Nissan, and especially her Nissan 300Z.

    Jaime was loved by all who knew her. She was sassy, funny, feisty, and friendly. Friends knew Jaime was loyal and that she would always be there to listen or laugh together. Oh, how we’ll miss her laughs! Jaime loved her family and friends despite their quirks and dysfunction – she always worried for them, protected them, rooted them on, and loved them no matter what. Her heart was big – she was always rooting for the underdog. Speaking of dogs, Jaime was an avid animal lover and would often take in stray dogs and cats.

    Jaime will be sorely missed every single day. This unexpected loss breaks our hearts. To be loved by Jaime was truly a blessing. Jaime is survived by her loving daughter, Ashlyn Verrips; her parents, Dan and Becky Verrips; her only sister, Kristi Beck; her nieces: Allison (Brody, Theo, Eli) Roberts and Daisy Beck; her nephews: Sean and Eric Beck; her paternal grandmother, Madonna Feyerabend; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.

    Jaime is preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Arnie Verrips; maternal grandparents, Dale and Margaret Wimmer; her uncles: Pat Strait and Dan Wimmer; and paternal step-grandfather, Lawrence Feyerabend.
