Obituary of Judy Kay Pry

Judy Kay Pry, age 71, passed away at her home in Sanborn, IA on July 9th. 

Entering life on December 15, 1945 in Akron, IA, she was the first of eight children born to Glen and Norene (Riser) Pry and was welcomed by Glen's three older children. The family moved from Alcester, SD to Sanborn, IA where Judy attended grade school and graduated from Sanborn High School in 1964. She then attended Westmar College in LeMars, IA.

Judy lived and worked in Sioux Falls, SD, Oklahoma City, OK, Worthington, MN, LeMars, IA, S. Sioux City, NE, Sioux City, IA, Fremont, NE, Omaha, NE, Spencer, Fostoria, Spirit Lake and back to Sanborn, IA where she lived until her death. She was a devout Methodist belonging to many churches, choirs and organizations. She formed many friendships in each town she called home.

Always a wealth of knowledge, she could remember details about every life she touched. She was an avid collector and could find meaning in the simplest of things. Judy enjoyed recording events and important dates, and took many photographs to document memories with family and friends. Many will miss hearing birthday and anniversary singing phone messages, radio greetings and beautiful handwritten notes on each gift she gave.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents John and Elsie Riser, Allen Pry and Mary (Pry) Tague; her sister Jeannette Erikson; brothers-in-law Joe Sommers, Alan Erikson, Dean Raymond and Andrew Palmer; her nephews Michael Pry and Trent Sommers; and many dear uncles, aunts, cousins and friends who graced her life.  Judy is survived by her siblings; Donna Raymond of Sanborn, Harold (Margaret) Pry of Hawarden, John (Diane) Pry of Merrill, Kathy Palmer of Sioux City, Cliff (Ronda) Pry of Sanborn, Gene Pry of Sioux City, Dawn Pry of LeMars, Shelly Sommers of Hartford, SD, and Jana (Terry) Fitzgerald of LeMars as well as many loving nieces, nephews and their families.

We know she is now happy in heaven with our loved ones and Jesus her savior. This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
