Obituary of Arlys Rost

Memorial Tribute Arlys Ione Rost, the daughter of Harry John and Marie Alice (Mohni) Wiese, was born on September 26, 1936 at Hartley, IA. On June 6, 1954, she was united in marriage to Darold "Mick" Rost at Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley, IA. The couple was blessed with three sons: Arlen, Darwin, and Daniel. Arlys was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley, the Dorcas Society, Legion Auxiliary and played in multiple card clubs. She always enjoyed taking in a lunch date or meeting friends at Red's Café for coffee. Bingo and playing cards were among her favorite pastimes. Volunteering to work the concession stand for ball games kept her involved with the community as well as the school kids. Even with her busy schedule, Arlys found time to attend her grandchildren's activities – dance recitals and sporting events. She was the perfect hostess for many memorable gatherings; for family and friends alike. Arlys passed from this life on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the age of 79. Preceding her in death were her husband, Mick Rost; her parents, Harry and Marie Wiese; a niece, Judine Ruggles; and her in-laws, Fred and Molly Rost. Left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses: Arlen (Kathi) Rost of Spencer, IA, Darwin (Lauren) Rost of LasVegas, NV, and Daniel (Molly) Rost of Sioux Falls, SD; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; her sister, Karen (Roger) Frick of Bloomington, MN; many loved foster children and exchange students; other relatives and friends.
