Dear Susan and Nancy, I am so sorry for your loss. Both of your parents were wonderful people…friendly, trustworthy, hardworking. And they were mentors/good examples for all the Hartley kids they encountered. I have found this to be true for most parents in our little town with a heart. We were blessed.

Harlan was one special man!! We thought the world of him.
He would come to Red's for coffee in the mornings....and often times, he would come and sit with us.
We loved looking at pictures of those precious and dearly loved grand babies. He was so proud of them.
He loved his family and talked so highly of them.
He loved golfing too. We miss him going past our house on his way out to the course. Later, he would just
drive out there, park, and watch.
He will be missed by the neighborhood and the town of Hartley.
Goodbye, to our friend.

I had the pleasure of helping Harlan in his home. He was always so kind and pleasant. It was fun listening to his stories and all the places he had been. I remember last spring taking him for rides so he could see that the crops were coming up and went for supper a few times. Prayers to the family.

What an amazing man!! To see this man come out to the golf course to "get a couple of holes in" was impressive. Miss you Harlan

What a great guy ! In the Patch - Eeten House Military Museum there are nearly 100 framed pictures of Hartley
men and women who served their country during World War II. Harlan was the last survivor.
Carol and I extend our heartfelt condolences and prayers for comfort during these challenging times for his family.
