I am sending my deepest condolences to Martha’s family after reading of her passing last June. I am a former foster child and Martha was my social worker. I sought her out today to apologize for my behavior when I was younger and to thank her for everything she did. Martha was the only one to see the abuse and neglect I experienced when I was young for what it was, and she truly saved my life even if I couldn't see it at that time. I am saddened that I cannot personally apologize and thank her for this, but I hope that her family can take solace in knowing that the work she did, while often thankless, was critical for the children she was trying to protect. Thank you for sharing your loved one with us all those years. She made the world a much better place.
