What a legacy Miss Solsma leaves behind! She taught me debits and credits, but also to not take myself too seriously and just enjoy the ride. I was her student over 30 years ago at MCS and I’m thankful for the handprint she left on my life. Much love and prayers go out to her family and the many friends she leaves behind. Until Heaven, my friend.

Miss Solsma was a favorite, each time she taught the grade/class I was in. So many memories at Grace/Graceland. The last few months before she passed, I would get random texts from her, just checking on me, or I would call her to talk. So much fun listening to her tell me of things she had done!
She will be missed, but know we will see her again soon.

What a privilege to have "Ms. Solsma" as a first grade teacher and dear friend.
She and my parents were from Iowa & South Dakota. All of our other family were still out west so we had the blessing of being family and having her over for many Thanksgiving and Christmas meals.
Every visit she always found a way to catch me and tickle me. How we looked forward to her coming over. A lot of good memories. The most memorable was dad and Ms. Solsma sitting at opposite ends of the dining room table. The basket of dinner rolls was at her end of the table. Dad jokingly said, "Dallis, throw me a roll". He wasn't ready when, to everyone's surprise, she did. That wasn't the last time "proper etiquette" was brushed aside in favor of good old family fun, making memories. We still relive and laugh about that memory every Holiday meal.
She invested so much into me and a host of others. I am thrilled for her that she got to go home. I look forward to the reunion in heaven. No more heartache. No more missing her and our other friends and loved ones.
Oh, how sorely you'll be missed Ms. Solsma. Thanks JESUS for sharing such a rich, generous and wonderful blessing with us.

My family was just talking about Ms. Solsma and we looked her up and found this site. I had hoped to speak with her again in this life. She was such a blessing to me when I was in High School. I travelled with her one summer with the Academy of Arts and enjoyed all of her teaching at Grace. Brad's post is well written and states pretty much how I feel. (Jeff Smith)

We are so sad to hear of Dallis passing away. She was the best neighbor we could ask for. Always kept a beautiful yard and delivered goodies to our home. We enjoyed our chats and visits with her. She will be greatly missed in our neighborhood. Prayers for peace and comfort for her family. Cory and Melonie Barnes

I is with great sadness that we received the notice that Dallas had past away. In our brief visit with her in early September she share that she had a terminal illness. We so enjoyed the plated of baked goodies she shared with us and fellow neighbors at Christmas. I reciprocated by sharing one of my ceramic pieces with her.I’m sure she touched so many lives in her teaching career. What a special person she was . We were so blessed to have know her. Prayers and sympathy to all her family

I was fortunate enough to have her as a teacher twice at Grace Baptist School here in Va. I remember how excited I was that I got her in a higher grade. She was my first grade and fourth grade teacher, and I have always remembered her. She was so very kind and loved her students. Through the years, I have thought about her and wondered where her life had taken her. It looks as though she continued to make a difference in many more lives. May she rest in peace. My condolences and prayers to her family. I will never forget her.

Oh what a sweet sweet God loving woman she was. She was a great teacher though she didn’t teach me personally. I also thought she was special and I have great respect for her. The obituary sure tells a lot about her love of teaching and love for helping others. I’m so very sorry she was taken from this life though I’m happy for her having already met Jesus face to face. Prayers and condolences for her family.
Love in Christ,

She was one of my favorite teachers from 2nd grade through high school in Virginia. You could tell that she loved the Lord and her students as shown in her teaching. Prayer and blessings to the family.
