I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of Steve Wachtel. My prayers go out to his wife & daughters. He was very active in the Melvin Methodist Church when my dad, Rev. Paul Hansen served there. Steve always had a positive outlook on life & a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed. - Carol Hansen

Dear Wachtel Family,
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy over the loss of your father. Be assured of my prayers that you will be comforted and strengthened in the days ahead. You are left with many precious memories of dad, including the shared laughter as well as the tears - - cherish those wonderful times and may God’s grace comfort you in days and weeks and years to come.
I always enjoyed chatting with your mom & dad whenever I was at the Methodist Church in Melvin. Your dad always impressed me as being a very Godly man.
Blessings,
Al Honken

This picture of Steve with his great nephews Luke, age 2 and Zachary, age 2 months, was taken at Easter in 1979 at Steve and Joan's. Steve was an awesome uncle, and I loved spending time at the farm when we were growing up.

So sad to hear of the passing of Steve. He was my Boy Scout leader when I lived in Melvin. My favorite memory of Steve is when he took a few of us to the boundary waters. It was an adventure I will never forget.
