I was sorry to hear of Doug's passing. I had lost touch, and heard the news from Kevin. I remember getting together with Doug and Greg B, and also the card playing (thanks for the fond memory, Dennis). I'm glad l could call myself a friend of Doug's.

I’m so sorry to hear of Doug’s passing.
I lived just a couple miles North of Doug’s family farm on the Dixon road.
I knew Doug’s Dad Dea due to corn shelling for my Dad prior to meeting Doug in 8th grade at Laurel.
Doug & I became good friends in High School & we did a lot together.
We would go to each other’s house & practice basketball since both of us were on the Hig School reserve basketball team our first two years.
The later two years we weren’t on the team but Doug, I & couple buddies would get ahead of the pep club busses & leave GO BEARS signs on the road to the away game towns for all to see.
Both basketball & football games.
Sometimes borrowing road signs for memories sake.
Many a Friday night we would go to a classmate’s basement in his house in town & play games or cards. He made homemade wine.
Robert was good in chemistry.
Doug was a groomsman in my wedding & set up my bachelor party.
We also camped out at Goodwin’s Lake ( thanks to Kevin Johnson) many overnite fun times.
My good memories are many.
Again so sorry for your loss.
My condolences Judy & to all of
Doug’s family.
Sincerely Dennis Berteloth

So sorry to hear about Doug’s passing. I have so many fond memories of times spent with Doug from our first acquaintance when we were 7th graders at Laurel. He and I were part of the farm kids that transferred to Laurel schools from our little Dixon county elementary schools. We quickly became friends and that continued on through high school. His dry humor entertained us. Memories of riding together in his old cars. We both made excellent use of our school permits driving prior to being 16 yrs old. Hunting and golfing together. He had a hook and I had a slice. Bowling and playing poker come to mind also. Many of you may not be aware that Doug wrote some very intriguing murder mystery short stories when we were in high school. At the time, I thought he might become a writer. Doug was the best man at our wedding. As typical with many men, we did not do a great job staying in touch through the years but I’m thankful to have been able to visit with him on the phone a few months ago. I extend my heartfelt sympathy to his sister Judy and the rest of Doug’s family and friends. God Bless you all.
