Obituary of Ronald Dean Brandt

    Ronald Dean Brandt, son of Arlin A. and Deltha M. (Getting) Brandt, was born June 23, 1952 at his parent’s home near Melvin, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at the Melvin Methodist Church. Ron grew up in the Melvin area and attended Melvin Community School, graduating with the class of 1970.

    He continued his education at Worthington Community College at Worthington, Minnesota, followed by two more years at Mankato State College in Mankato, Minnesota; later earning his M.B.A. Ron taught at Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa for one year, then enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served at several bases in the states, as well as Germany and Honduras. Ron had achieved the rank of Captain when he was honorably discharged, and began working in administration with the Veterans Health System in Los Angeles and Palo Alto, California. After more than 20 years, he retired due to health reasons. Ron passed from this life on Friday, July 6, 2018 at the age of 66 years.

    Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Susan Brandt of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, his brother, Mike   and his wife, Chris Brandt of Spotsylvania, Virginia; three nieces: Carrie Brandt, Amy and her husband, Andy Christopher, and Laurie Brandt; four great-nieces and nephew: Callie Brandt, Ashleigh, Andrew, and Addison Christopher; aunts and uncles: Harold and Francine Brandt of Sanborn, Iowa, Ruth Brandt of Sheldon, Iowa, Dorothy Tesch of Sutherland, Iowa, and Ferne Getting of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; many cousins and other relatives. He is also going to be remembered by his California friends; especially Rudy and Phyllis Garza of Sunnyvale, California. Ron and Rudy not only shared being disabled vets, they were also next-door neighbors. They became best of friends and were a “support system” for one another.

    Ron is once again reunited with his parents, Arlin and Deltha Brandt; his grandparents; brother, Randy Brandt; ­­niece, Christine Brandt; aunts and uncles; other relatives and friends.
