Obituary of Rosella Leona Croatt

    Rosella Leona Croatt, daughter of Pete and Matilda (Robinet) Klein, was born May 22, 1939 at Hospers, Iowa. She spent her youth in the Hospers area, and attended St. Anthony's Catholic School in Hospers through the 8th Grade.

    On September 25, 1971, Rosella was united in marriage to Gerald Nicholas Croatt at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hospers. They began their married life together on Gerald’s family farm near Hospers, where they lived and worked the land until they retired. In September of 2003, they relocated to Sioux Center, Iowa, and in 2014, they both became residents of Fieldcrest Assisted Living at Sheldon, Iowa. After Gerald passed away in January of this year, Rosella continued living at their home at Fieldcrest.

    Rosella loved to cook and enjoyed sharing the good things she made with family and friends. Having lived on the farm her entire life, she always had access to a great garden spot and took full advantage of it. Growing and harvesting garden produce kept her busy during the summer and fall months. She also helped Gerald out with chores around the farm whenever she could. She was a life-long member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hospers, where she was a member of St. Anthony’s Guild. On Saturday, June 2, 2018, Rosella passed from this life at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Fall, South Dakota at the age of 79 years.

    Preceding her in death were her parents, Pete and Matilda Klein;

her infant brother and sister, Raymond and Sylviana; brothers: Arnold Klein and Jerome Klein; sisters, Frances Schnurr and Esther Gergen; brothers-in-law: Melvin Plathe, Ray Schnurr, Leo Gergen; sister-in-law, Margaret (Croatt) Klein.

    Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Gerald Klein of Hospers, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Margaret Klein of Paullina,  , and Rita Klein of Sheldon, Iowa; many dear nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
