Obituary of MIldred Kramme

Mildred Clara Louise (Uhe) Kramme, the daughter of Samuel and Elsie (Towar) Uhe was born on February 29, 1912 at Lena, IL. Her childhood years were spent in the Lena, IL area, where she attended Louisa country school for eight years and then attended Lena High School. In 1929 she moved with her family to the Hartley area where she began working at the Hartley Bakery and various homes.
On January 4, 1932 she was united in marriage to Erwin L. Kramme in Canton, SD. Following their marriage they moved to the Larrabee, IA area, and later began farming near Hartley. Upon retiring in 1971 the couple moved to the Kramme acreage on the west side of Hartley. Mildred worked for the Variety store, True Value and Gene’s Foodland. Following Erwin’s death in 1993 she moved into the town of Hartley and in 2003 became one of the first residents at the Assisted Living Facility. Mildred passed away on June 13, 2007 at the Community Memorial Health Center.
Mildred was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ where she was an active member of Dorcas Society, Busy Bee Club and a Mann Wing Nursing Home volunteer. Special interests of Mildred’s included gardening, fishing, playing cards, baking, decorating cakes and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Bette Pierson and her husband, Bill, of Estherville, IA, Harold Kramme and his wife, Bev, of Hartley, IA, and Edward Kramme and his wife, Judy of Osage, IA; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law Mary Uhe, of Spencer, IA, many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives as well as many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and triplet brothers: Floyd, Lloyd and Boyd Uhe.
