Frances Elizabeth (Klein) Schnurr, the daughter of Peter and Mathilda (Robinet) Klein was born on April 19, 1922 in Hospers, IA. She spent her youth in the Hospers, IA area, and attended the Catholic School in Hospers.
She married Raymond Schnurr, Sr. on June 5, 1941 in Hospers, IA. Following their marriage, Frances and Ray farmed near Moneta, IA for seven years and then moved to a farm near Hospers, IA for one year. In 1949, they moved to a farm north of Sanborn. They were blessed with four sons: Ray, Jr., Darrel, Jim and Phil. She was a homemaker and worked several years at the Standard Restaurant.
She is survived by her children: Ray, Jr. and his wife, Henrietta of Sanborn, IA, Darrel and his wife, LaDone of DeWitt, IA, Jim, and his wife, Barb of Salem, OR, and Phil, and his wife Kris of Wildwood, MO. Also left to cherish her memory are her seven grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 6 step great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald Klein and Jerome Klein, both of Hospers; two sisters, Esther Gergen of Sanborn, IA and Rosella Croatt of Sioux Center, IA; one sister-in-law, Margaret Klein of Paullina, IA; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ray, her brother, Arnold Klein, and a great-grandson, Matthew Schnurr.
She was an active member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, the Prairie View Auxiliary and the Fifty-Plus Club.
She enjoyed playing bingo, reading, playing the card game “500” and crocheting. Most of all she loved her family and friends.
