Obituary of Roy Brown

Roy Amosa Brown was born on May 23, 1916 to LaVerne and Helen Brown in Kansas City, Kansas. He was the oldest son, and had two sisters and three brothers. He passed away at Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn, IA on December 25, 2006 at 90 years of age. Roy served in the U.S. Army during WW II in North Africa, Sicily and the European Theatre from 1942-1945. On November 21, 1945, he was married to Lillian Bott in New Albany Indiana. Following their marriage, they settled in Sanborn, IA where they farmed for several years. Roy later retired from AMPI Creamery in Sanborn in 1977. Roy and Lillian were blessed with 61 years of marriage and four children: Francis, and his wife Carol Ann of Cabot, AR; Linda Petersen of Manhattan, KS; Mary and her husband, Kelly O’Brien of Sanborn, IA; and Vincent, who passed away on February 21, 1999. The Browns also have three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren. Roy also has one surviving brother, Bruce Brown of Milford, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Vincent, two brothers, Wesley and Merle Brown, and two sisters, Elsie Halverson and Vera Hopkins. Roy was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, the American Legion Post #318, and a 4th Degree Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. Before his health began to decline, he enjoyed golfing, playing cards and fishing.
