Obituary of Jessie Zimmer

Jessie (Modderman) Zimmer was born in Prinsburg, MN, on February 20, 1923, the daughter of George and Gertrude (Linkuis) Modderman. She spent her childhood years in Prinsburg and attended Central Minnesota Christian School. On March 27, 1945, Jessie married Albertus (Bert) Zimmer. The couple settled on a farm near Clara City, MN, where they raised their family of four children: Alberta (Betty), Lynn, Gloria, and Vernelle. In 1997, Bert and Jessie moved to Sanborn, IA. Bert passed away in 2002. Jessie passed away in Prairie View Nursing Home under Hospice care on June 27, 2006. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bert; a granddaughter, Karla Robbins; three brothers: John, Helmer and an infant boy; six sisters: Jessie Modderman, Frieda Dykstra, Minnie Klynstra, Gertrude Modderman, Ann Bolt, and Lucy Faber. Survivors include her children: Betty (Robert) Robbins of Woodbridge, VA; Lynn (Mavis) Zimmer of Prinsburg, MN; Gloria (Junior) Postma of Sanborn, IA; Vern (Vick) Zimmer of Blomkest, MN; her sisters-in-law: Wilma Modderman of Ripon, CA, and Jeanette Ziehl of Willmar, MN; and many other relatives and friends. She was an active member of the Clara City and Bunde, MN Christian Reformed Churches, as well as the Cornerstone United Reformed Church in Sanborn, IA. Jessie will be remembered as a woman of strong faith. She was a creative person who took great joy in sharing her beautiful cross-stitched pieces and quilts with others. She loved baking, taking care of plants, and playing games. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
