Memorial Tribute
Gerald "Jerry" Dean Nagel, the son of John and Carrie Gertrude (Gruis) Nagel, was born on February 12, 1944 at Rock Rapids, IA. He lived his youth in the Little Rock, IA area where he received his education, graduating from Little Rock High School.
On November 1, 1963, Gerald was united in marriage to Jane Carol Buchman at the United Methodist Church in Sibley, IA. To this union two children were born: Roxane and Thad.
Gerald was employed as a truck driver out of Little Rock and Hartley, IA. He later owned and operated his own trucking firm, retiring in 2009. Following retirement, Gerald worked at CEA until June of 2015.
When he could find some free time, Gerald thoroughly enjoyed a quiet afternoon of fishing or a round or two of golf. Motorcycle riding was also on his list of favorite things to do, yet he'd set it all aside to spend time with his beloved family and dear friends. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley. Gerald passed from this life on December 4, 2015 at the age of 71.
Preceding him in death were his father and mother, John and Carrie Nagel; his sister, Melvina Klaassen; and granddaughter, Amber Kissinger.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jane of Hartley, IA; daughter, Roxane (James) Kissinger of Fleming Island, FL, and Thad (Lynn) Nagel of Littleton, CO; three grandchildren: Alicia (Tyler) Knox, Erin Kissinger and Nathan Nagel; his brother, Klaas (Diane) Nagel and brother-in-law, Robert Klaassen both of Little Rock, IA; other relatives and many friends.
