Obituary of JoAnne Miller

JoAnne Marie Miller, daughter of Francis and Mary (Devereaux) Olberding was born September 5, 1957 at Ft. Dodge, IA. She spent her youth in the Mallard, IA area, and attended school there, graduating with the class of 1976. Out of her first marriage, two daughters were born; Amy and Brandy. On February 4, 1989, JoAnne was united in marriage to the love of her life Daniel Dale Miller at Canton, SD. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Hartley, IA. JoAnne was a devoted mother, taking care of her family's needs as well as operating a daycare out of her home. She had been employed at the Hartley Pack and Red's Café, both in Hartley, and recently, managed the Wal-Mart Garden Center out of Spirit Lake, IA. Baking and gardening were among JoAnne's favorite things to do, and her family enjoyed the proceeds from both. Whenever time would allow, she loved to go shopping, but babysitting her grandsons, Gage and Reid always came first. She and Dan spent lots of time on the water, reeling in the "big ones", and enjoying the scenery around them. The trip they took to Alaska certainly offered both, yet the largest walleye JoAnne's ever caught was off the shore at Storm Lake, IA! Of all the fishing trips she and Dan were on, her most memorable one was spent in Alexandria, MN on their honeymoon. JoAnne passed from this life on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at the age of 57. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dan of Hartley, IA; daughters: Amy (Micah) Salter of Hospers, IA, and Brandy Hoffert of Alta, IA; grandchildren: Ben, Gage, and Reid; brothers: Richard (Roxy) Olberding, Bernard (Kathy) Olberding, Gene (Andrea) Olberding, Francis (Lori) Olberding, Dean Olberding, Bob (Candy) Olberding, Don (Michelle) Olberding, sister-in-law, Lori Miller; other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; grandparents; brothers: Jim and Marvin Olberding; sisters: Eileen Hanson and Marilyn Lenig; nieces: Sarah Kelly and Lisa Marie Hanson; mother and father-in-law, Delmar and Marla Miller; brother-in-law: Tom Miller.
