Memorial Tribute
Pearl Arlene Lefever was born March 15, 1920 to William and Kate (Hughes) Klett at Milford, Iowa. She attended country schools in Dickinson and Clay counties; and graduated from Everly High School in Everly, IA.
The following year, Pearl continued her education at the Iowa State Teacher's College located at Cedar Falls, IA where she obtained her Teaching Certificate. She then taught country school in O'Brien and Clay counties for two years.
On December 28, 1939, Pearl was united in marriage to Orville Lefever at Everly, IA. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in 1940, and would remain a member there for the rest of her life. She served this church as a Sunday School teacher for many years. The couple began farming near Hartley, IA where they would live for the next 40 years, and raise their two children, Ronald and Kathy.
Orville passed away in 1980 and Pearl remained at their home in the country, working as a part-time housekeeper at Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley for the next 21 years. In 1987, Pearl left the farm and moved into the town of Hartley. In 2004, she moved to Walthill, NE to help care for her twin grandchildren, returning to Hartley in October, 2014. She then moved into the Community Memorial Health Center and remained there until she passed from this life on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at the age of 95.
