Obituary of Roland Andersen

Roland Wayne Andersen was born on January 30, 1913 at Witten, South Dakota in Tripp County. He was the son of Jens and Sadie (Yarrington) Andersen. The family moved to a farm one-half mile south of Archer, Iowa when "Wayne" was only 3 months old. Here, he lived his youth and received his education, graduating from Archer High School in 1930. Wayne was united in marriage to Agnes Williams on July 4, 1934 at Sheldon, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Roland, Judi, and Dennis. Wayne and Agnes raised their family and farmed near Archer until Wayne's retirement in 1970. He continued doing custom work for other area farmers for several years following. In 1987, Wayne and Agnes left the farm and moved into the town of Archer. Agnes passed away on May 18, 1995. In June, 2005, Wayne moved to the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon, Iowa. He passed from this life at Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon on January 8, 2015 at the age of 101. He is survived by his three children: Roland Andersen of Chaska, MN, Judi Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD, and Dennis Andersen of Ridgefield, WA; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Agnes; and his four siblings.
