Lola Mae Yock, the daughter of Otto and Pearl (Wells) Klatt, was born on February 28, 1925 at Sanborn, Iowa. She lived her youth in the Melvin and Hartley areas and attended grade school at Baker No. 7.
On September 21, 1948; her parents 26th wedding anniversary; she was united in marriage to Paul Roger Yock in the parsonage of the Sibley United Methodist Church. Following their marriage they lived at Iowa City, IA where Lola worked as a diet maid at the University of Iowa Hospital delivering meals to the patients. She later worked as a telephone operator for Bell telephone until they moved to Hartley, Ia. in 1955. Paul and Lola were the parents of one son, Paul Yock Jr.
Lola loved gardening and especially enjoyed growing flowers. She also enjoyed crocheting and made lots of afghans that she gave away. Other interests included: reading, puzzle books, putting puzzles together, making crafts out of plastics, and bowling when she was able. Lola was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hartley and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Paul Jr. and his wife Cathy of Sigourney, Ia.; two grandchildren: Nathan (Molly) Yock of Marne, Ia. and Leah (Jarrod) George of Albia, Ia.; one great grandchild: Joseph Yock; three sisters: Ellen Ackerman and Betty (Dick) Schmidt of Spencer, Ia., Kathryn Karlsen of Melvin, Ia.; three brothers: Larry (Lois) Klatt and Bill Klatt of Hartley, Ia, and John (Gwen) Klatt of Melvin, Ia. and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parent; her husband, Paul Sr. on June 9, 2014; two sisters: Ann Elizabeth Klatt and Merna Jacobs and three brothers: James, Tom and Otto (Butch) Klatt.
