Memorial Tribute
Janet Lee Ferguson, oldest daughter of Bernard and Leila (Juber) Lyman, was born in Sibley, IA on June 16, 1954. Her childhood years were spent in the town of Sanborn, IA, where she attended the public school, graduating from Sanborn High School in 1973.
Janet was united in marriage to Mike Ferguson on April 19, 1975 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Sanborn. She was employed at Prairie View Nursing Home and Hartley Pack before managing Lyman’s Ceramics in Sanborn.
Being a life-long member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Janet acted on several boards within the church, as well as serving as the financial secretary. She was a member of the Eastern Star, and also enjoyed many hobbies; among them, scrapbooking, ceramics, coin collecting and adding to her Precious Moments collection. She always looked after the needs of family pets, but was especially fond of her cat, “Tippy”. Janet enjoyed time spent with her family, and treasured visits from her nieces and nephews. She passed away on July 16, 2013 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 59 years, 1 month.
Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Leila Lyman; two sisters; Lyda (Mel) Norem and Karen (Roger) Onken; four brothers; Doug (Cathy) Lyman, Randy (Candice) Lyman, Jeff (Sheila) Lyman, and Keith “Harv” (Tanya) Lyman all of Sanborn; father-in-law, Bill Ferguson of Hartley, IA; brothers-in-law: Stan (Sherry) Ferguson of Charter Oak, IA, Bob (Sheila) Ferguson of Bunnlevel, NC; sister-in-law, Sherry (Wayne) Souer of Delta, IA; many very special nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Ferguson; father, Bernard Lyman; her grandparents; niece, Lisa Lyman; mother-in-law, Karleen Ferguson.
