Lavaune Gladyce Stopsack, the daughter of Ervin and Elsie (Messer) Linder was born on June 24, 1925 in Hartley, IA. She lived out her childhood in the Hartley area. Lavaune went to Hartley Public School #4 and graduated from Hartley High School in 1942.
She was united in marriage to Herman Stopsack in 1945 at Worthington, MN. To this union one son was born David. Following their marriage the couple resided on their farm north of Hartley. Lavaune moved to the Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn on January 10, 2012 and passed away there on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the age of 87.
Lavaune was a member of the Hartley United Methodist Church. She loved to garden, feed wild birds, her dogs and drinking coffee with friends and family. Lavaune thoroughly enjoyed the years when David showed 4-H cattle at the fairs. Lavaune loved to travel and especially enjoyed her trip to Africa, where she rode elephants and saw all the big cats.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and her brother: Marlyn Linder.
Left to cherish her memory are her son: David of Sanborn and his special friend Shelley Kruger of Sanborn; honorary grandchildren: Jill (Paul) Schuler and family, Jennifer (Marc) Anderson and family, Jason (Tyanne) Kruger and family; a special niece: Val (Dan) Moermond; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
