In 2006 I visited Wilbur at his home. My Grandfather Garth Hitchcock was Wilbur's first cousin. I came to visit him to talk about my Grandfather and his memories of growing up in Sanborn and of his Grandfather Peter Gross. He was very hospitable and friendly. I am sorry to hear of his passing and my condolences to his children and wife.

I was so sorry to hear about Pootie. As a kid I spent an awful lot of time in the Smith household, and visa versa...I always thought of him as a 2nd dad, and enjoyed his sense of humor....His example was one of the reasons I joined the Navy. I'm honored to be named as an honorary Pall Bearer. May he rest in peace. Love, Tony and Patty Ogden and kids....
