Orv was born on January 7, 1940, in Hartley, Iowa, to Ingwer L. Hansen, Sr. and Patricia (Greenlee) Hansen. He went to public schools in Hartley where he became an avid reader.
In 1989 he began work at Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon, Iowa, moving there full-time in 2000. At the Village he lead discussions on current events, served as a volunteer aide to staff, performed computer data entry, and enjoyed the company of his friends and co-workers. He volunteered at the Sheldon Public Library. He was an active member of the Sheldon United Methodist Church.
In addition to his interest in reading, Orv was exceptionally knowledgeable in the areas of geography, history, and government. He enjoyed fine music and was a lifelong advocate for animals.
Orv is survived by his sisters, Mary Ann (Ken) Gregory of Dysart, IA, Jane (Ron) Kauzlarich of Arnolds Park, IA, and nephews Eric (Carla) Gregory of Fairfield, CA, and Michael (Jodi) Gregory of Kansas, City, MO, other relatives and many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents.
