Charles Boone, the son of Gerrit and Phoebe (Veenstra) Boone, was born on October 31, 1911 near Middleburg, IA. He grew up on the farm and attended country school and the Middleburg Christian School.
At the age of 16, Chuck moved to Sanborn, IA. It was there that he met his bride, Jeanette Andringa. They were married on December 10, 1936, at her parents’ home in Sanborn. Together, they owned and operated the Phillips 66 station in Sanborn for 25 years. Chuck was drafted into the U.S. Army on April 11, 1944. He served in the infantry division, stationed in Italy, until his honorable discharge on February 5, 1946. They were blessed with one daughter, Margaret. They spent their entire married life living in Sanborn. Jeanette passed away in May of 2009. Chuck was reunited with her on Friday, October 21, 2011, just 10 days short of his 100th birthday.
Chuck enjoyed keeping busy, both before and after retirement. He and Jeanette loved to travel and spend winters in Florida or Arizona. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and golfing. The church was an important part of their lives. He was a member of the Sanborn CRC.
