Obituary of Ellwood Klever

Ellwood Martin Klever was born March 16, 1929, to Martin and Hazel (Smith) Klever near Melvin, Iowa. He attended the area country school and later attended Melvin High School.
On June 19, 1949, he was united in marriage to Ruth Menning at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sanborn. To this union three children were born Lon, Lana and LuAnn. Following their marriage the couple resided on their Century Farm Northeast of Sanborn. Woody and Ruth were engaged in farming for 54 years together. They retired in 1999 and moved to Sanborn. On December 7, 2006 Woody entered Prairie View Nursing Home and passed away there on March 31, 2011 at the age of 82.
Woody was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church his entire married life. He was a farmer and that was his way of life, his love and his hobby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two infant brothers: Larry and William.
Woody is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth; his children: Lon Klever and his wife, Donna, of Sanborn, IA, Lana Anderson and her husband, Warren, of Spirit Lake, IA, and LuAnn Schiphoff and her husband, Gary, of Sibley, IA; six grandchildren: Michelle Nasers and her husband Greg, Mike Agena, Ryan Schiphoff and his wife Tracy, Brent Schiphoff and his wife Janette, Farrah Pohlen and her husband Chris, and Laura Baatz and her husband Jeff; 13 great grandchildren: Heather Nasers and her fiancé Korey Kelly, Amanda Nasers, Jacob Agena, Dalton, Dylan and Jaden Schiphoff, Mackenzie, Marshall and Grant Schiphoff, Macy and Mya Pohlen and Rees and Willow Baatz; two sisters: Merrie Lou Jochums of Camarillo, CA, and Carolee Primising and her husband, Mike, of Wautoma, WI; three sisters-in-law: Marge Paulsen, Dorothy Celak and Glenda Visser all of Sanborn; one brother-in-law: Richard Menning and his wife, Judy of Farmington, NM; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
