Janice Marie (Shriner) Waggoner, the daughter of John and Evelyn (Satern) Shriner, was born on September 17, 1946 in Rodman, Iowa. She spent her childhood years in Rodman and graduated from High School at Cylinder, Iowa.
She was united in marriage to James Allen Waggoner on January 27, 1968, at West Bend, Iowa. Following their marriage the couple lived in Spencer, Iowa. They have made their home in Hartley, Iowa, since 1969. Jan was a homemaker and busy mom to their three children, Jackie, Jodi and Jeffrey.
An avid fan of all sports, Jan had her favorite teams, including the Chicago Cubs, the Iowa Hawkeyes and the New England Patriots. She enjoyed putting scrapbooks together, and made one for each of her grandchildren. She spent many hours outside in her flower gardens. She was always up for a motorcycle ride with Jim.
Following a five-year battle with cancer, Jan passed away at the Spencer Municipal Hospital in Spencer, Iowa on Friday, October 8, 2010 at the age of 64.
Survivors include her husband, Jim, of Hartley; her two daughters, Jackie Clark (Billy Anderson) of Hartley, and Jodi Kokenge (Bob Hall) of Sheldon, Iowa, and her son Jeff of Hartley; six grandchildren; a brother, Jim (Sam) Shriner of Spencer, Iowa, and two sisters, Donna (Paul) Fredrickson of Estherville, Iowa, and Patricia Schmeling of Emmetsburg, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
