Obituary of Alice Muilenburg

Alice (Vanden Hul) Muilenburg was born in Newkirk, Iowa on April 18, 1922 to Gerrit and Winnie (Vanden Brink) Vanden Hull. She grew up in rural Hospers, Iowa where she attended the area country schools.
On April 27, 1946 she was united in marriage to Peter Muilenburg. They made their home in Hospers until 1955. During this time their lives were blessed through the adoption of their son, Joseph, in 1950. After living in Sheldon for a few years, the couple settled in Hartley for the remainder of their lives together. Peter passed away in 1997.
Alice loved sewing and crocheting, and often made potholders as gifts for people. For many years she was the main seamstress at the local Hartley Clothing Store. She also enjoyed cooking, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. She spent many hours playing bingo and dominos with her best friend, Marlene Somers.
Alice passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the age of 88.
Left to cherish her memory is her son Joseph and his wife DoraLucia of Monticello, MN, and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Peter, and one sister, Annetta.
