Obituary of Lois Tifft

Lois Lorraine Tifft, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Jellema) Maassen, was born near Sheldon, Iowa on April 25, 1936. Her childhood years were spent in the Sheldon area and she graduated from Sheldon High School in 1954.
On September 9, 1955, Lois was united in marriage to Lawrence Tifft at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon, and to this union four children were born: Larry, Lori, Lyle and L.D. The couple resided in Sanborn where Lois did various jobs over the years, including working at the Pike Café, Creamery and Prairie View Nursing Home. Lawrence passed away on July 28, 2006. Lois continued to live at home in Sanborn. She passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the age of 74 at the Sanford Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
She was a member of the First Reformed Church where she belonged to the church ladies’ Bible study group. She enjoyed making calendars, helping at Prairie View and having coffee with her lady friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very precious to her and she always cherished the time spent with them.
Left to cherish her memory are her children and their families: Larry Tifft of Sanborn, and his children, Chad, Angie, Tyler, Travis, and Misti; Lori Roder and her husband Randy of Sheldon, and their children, Mandy, Joshua and Karissa; Lyle and his wife Sherry of Sanborn, and their children, Montana and Savanna; and L.D. of Canton, SD and his children, Kendra, Kyle and Kelvin; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Esther Meyer and her husband Myron, of Archer, IA, Helen Van Grouw and her husband, Harold, of Redlands, CA, and Wilma David of Penny’s Farm, FL; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Lawrence, a sister, Margaret Good and a brother-in-law, Manuel David.
