Obituary of Alice Boetel

Alice Lenora Boetel, the daughter of Chris and Bertha (Wills) Rinck, was born on January 26, 1914 on a farm near Sanborn, Iowa. She grew up in the Sanborn area and attended country school at Lincoln Township. Following graduation, Alice then taught school for one year before getting married.
On Janaury 6, 1937, she was united in marriage to Henry Boetel. Following their marriage the couple lived in Georgia while Henry served his country. They moved back to the Hartley area and lived on a farm southwest of town. For a few years they ran the gas station and café where the Wellness Center was along highway 18. Alice did various jobs in her lifetime including working at Van Olst Bakery, the Hartley Creamery, Lages Poultry, and a bookkeeper for Worthmore. Alice passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center on April 6, 2010, at the age of 96.
Alice was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley. She loved to go dancing, traveling, fishing, raising flowers and in her later years playing bingo.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry on December 14, 1966, one brother and two sisters.
