Memorial Tribute
Helen Louise (Ebel) (Warbuton) Emerson, the daughter of Charles and Martha (Clardy) Ebel, was born in Primghar, Iowa on November 3, 1927. She spent her childhood years in Primghar, and attended Primghar Community School.
On October 15, 1946, she was united in marriage to Stanley Warburton at Spencer, Iowa. They made their home in Hartley, Iowa, where they raised their three children, Edna, Diane and Donald. Stan passed away on June 7, 1979. Helen married Edward Emerson in Reno, NV on September 27, 1997. Ed passed away on October 17, 1999. Helen spent the majority of her life living in the Hartley and Sanborn, Iowa areas, but did reside for a time in both Florida and Oregon.
She passed away at her home in Sanborn on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the age of 82. In keeping with her wishes, her body will be cremated, and a private family burial held at Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley, Iowa.
Helen loved doing crafts, as well as sewing and crocheting. She was an excellent cook—always willing to “whip something up” at the drop of a hat. She loved visiting with her family, but everyone knew they were not to call her during “The Price is Right.”
Left to cherish her memory are her children and their families: Edna and her husband, Gary Klatt of Lake City, Florida, Diane and her husband, Joseph Carr of Urbandale, Iowa, and Donald Warburton and his wife, Carol of Hartley, Iowa; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Stanley, her husband Edward, a great-grandson, 10 brothers and 2 sisters.
Memorials given in Helen’s name may be directed to the Hartley Day Care Center in Hartley, Iowa.
