Memorial Tribute
Eileen Ruth (Gravenhof) Roelfs, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Dykstra) Gravenhof, was born on October 27, 1951 in Worthington, MN. Her early school years were spent at Ocheyedan Christian and later attended Hull Western Christian High School graduating in 1970. Eileen went on to attend two years of Nursing School at a Sioux Falls College.
She was united in marriage to William (Bill) Roelfs on September 20, 1974 at Sibley, IA. To this union four children were born, Amy, Scott, Chad, and Ashley. Following their marriage the couple resided in Sibley until the summer of 1976 when they moved to a farm north of Sanborn. Eileen worked as an LPN at the Osceola Community Hospital until 1983; she then was a stay at home mom for seven years. In 1990 she went to work for Kimberly Quality Care as a Home Health Aide until 1994 when she went to work for the Osceola Community Health. Following a long illness, Eileen passed away at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the age of 58.

Eileen was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Sanborn, where she led a women’s Bible study group. She enjoyed fishing, reading, knitting, crocheting, and baking Christmas candy. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and attending her children’s cattle shows.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 35 years, Bill; her children, Amy Gruis and fiancé Dale Carda of Sibley, IA, Scott Roelfs and his wife, Emily, of Rock Valley, IA, Chad Roelfs and his wife, Ruth, and Ashley Roelfs and fiancé Allen Stegeman, all of Sanborn; five grandchildren; one sister, Grace Ahlers and her husband, Willis, of Ocheyedan, IA; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
