Memorial Tribute
Kenneth Henry Warnke, the son of Richard John and Ida (Hibbing) Warnke, was born on December 30, 1932 at Paullina, Iowa. He grew up in the Paullina area and attended school there, graduating from Paullina High School in 1950. Following his school years Kenneth enlisted in the United States Army and served his country for several years.
He was united in marriage to Harriett Sue Raymond on June 14, 1955 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. Kenneth and Harriet were blessed with four boys: Matthew, Kirk, Phillip and Bret. Following their marriage the couple lived in the communities of Paullina, Ogden, and Nevada, Iowa before moving to Sanborn in 1966. Kenneth worked for Mid-America Pipeline Co. for 29 years, and retired as Regional Manager in 1989. Kenneth passed away unexpectedly at his home on December 19, 2008 at the age of 75.
Kenneth was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sanborn. He was active in the community, serving on the Sanborn Community School Board and Sanborn City Council for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, playing cards and having coffee with the guys. His greatest joy was his family and trying to keep track of his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years,Harriett; four children: Matthew Warnke of Key West, FL, Kirk and Delaine Warnke of Manson, IA, and their children Kelli, Erryn and Whitni, Phillip and Lori Warnke of Sheldon, IA and their children, Bethany, Ryan and Amy,and Bret and Linda Warnke of Ida Grove, IA and their children Alex, Rachel, Nolan and Tyler; one sister, Beverly Anderson of Ankeny, IA; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents,and a brother-in-law, Roger Andersen
