Obituary of Jan Hall

Janice Marie (Petersen) Hall, the daughter of Rudy and Maxine (McClary) Petersen, was born on October 8, 1957. She spent her childhood in the Hartley area, where she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. Jan graduated from Hartley High School in 1976 and went on to attend a art school in Colorado for one year. Jan met Daniel Hall, the love of her life, and married him on July 22, 1978. They began their married life in Colorado and later moved back to Northwest Iowa to raise their family. Jan was a mother at heart and cherished every minute she had with her kids. Together Dan and Jan adopted and raised three children in Hartley. Jan was a very gifted local artist who over the years had created artwork for customers in all fifty states and eight countries. She had a unique talent and a kind heart, never saying no to anyone. Jan loved to use her talents and would at every opprotunity use them to help others. Jan was a self-less and giving soul and always put others before herself without ever complaining. Jan’s love for the arts not only extended to painting and her personalized name drawings, but music as well. Over the years, Dan and Jan enjoyed traveling to concerts and collecting memorabilia of their favorite acts. Jan had a lifelong struggle with diabetes, but with her strong Christian faith and passion for life, you would have never guessed it. She lived life to the fullest and could always be seen with a smile on her face. Jan found comfort and peace with her Lord on Sunday, May 25, 2008 at the age of 50. Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Dan, of Hartley, IA; children: two daughters Miranda Merideth and her husband, Josh, of Le Mars, IA, Ada DeGraaf and her husband, Cody, of Arnolds Park, IA and a son Gabe Hall of Hartley, IA; two beloved grandchildren: MiKaya DeGraaf and Dawson Renken; parents: Rudy and Maxine Petersen of Hartley, IA; a brother: Steve Petersen of Hartley, IA; a sister: Carol Petersen of Hartley, IA; a sister and brother-in-law: Peggy and Jim Riddle of Clive, IA along with dear nieces, nephews and extended family. Jan is reunited with her infant daughter, Stephanie Lynn Hall and her sister, Linda Petersen.
