Obituary of Marie Aurand

Marie Josephine (Ruppert) Aurand was born on March 19, 1903 to John and Margaret (Reckenthaler) Ruppert, in Parker, South Dakota, one of eight children. She received her education at Parker Schools until moving with her family to Sioux Falls at the age of sixteen. Following her school years Marie worked for Shipley’s Laundry and the Manchester Biscuit Co. both of Sioux Falls. Marie was united in marriage to Frank Aurand of Hartley, IA on February 16, 1931 in Sioux Falls, SD. Following their marriage the couple lived in Hartley for four years and then moved to Sanborn in 1935, where they worked and lived until Frank’s death on March 15, 1981. Marie continued to live in Sanborn until her death on Friday, January 4, 2008 at the Prairie View Nursing Home. Marie was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church where she had been very involved with church activities in her younger years. She had a love for all animals but especially dogs and the birds that she would feed. Marie enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking and eating pizza while visiting with family and friends. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and four sisters.
